Most cats are very adept at managing water balance and hydration. As with other animals, this is a refined homeostatic mechanism that is vital to normal healthy living. The physiologic control of thirst, water balance, and hydration is complex and can be disrupted in a number of different disease processes. This talk will provide an overview of the mechanisms involved in maintaining normal hydration, how and when these mechanisms may become disrupted, and the consequences of those disruptions.

{{webinarsregistrationpage::inside_the_webinar_2}} {{webinarsregistrationpage::inside_the_webinar_3}} Learn why optimizing hydration can be particularly important in cats with diseases that predispose to water loss, especially in older cats where age is likely to interfere with normal homeostatic mechanisms Understand the importance of achieving a dilute urine in cats with lower urinary tract disease and to consider not only water intake, but solute load in the diet Examine how incorporating high moisture diets and/or use of a highly palatable water-based supplement can effectively increase overall water intake {{webinarsregistrationpage::what_youll_learn_bullet_4}} {{webinarsregistrationpage::what_youll_learn_bullet_5}} {{webinarsregistrationpage::what_youll_learn_bullet_6}} {{webinarsregistrationpage::additional_subhead}} {{webinarsregistrationpage::additional_copy}} In adherence with RACE guidelines, CE certificates can only be distributed to individual registrants under the name used upon registration.
