This webinar will review sources and applications of biomarkers, describe the role of biomarker tests being marketed, and focus on the role of TK1 in detecting cancer and other diseases.
Biomarkers are substances derived from bodily fluids that reflect the state of health or disease in an individual.
When used in combination with physical and other clinicopathologic findings, biomarkers can guide therapy or additional diagnostic testing.
Thymidine kinase 1 (TK1) is a soluble marker of proliferation that can be easily measured in the blood and reflect an occult or suspected diagnosis of cancer.
Combining 2 or more biomarkers is usually more powerful than considering only the changes in a single biomarker.
