In the age of COVID-19, veterinarians have enough to worry about with staff, clients, and even themselves potentially being a source of infection. But what about their patients? In this new study, cats — one of the most susceptible domestic species — were experimentally infected with SARS-CoV-2, then followed for clinical signs, length of viral shedding, and the presence of inflammatory lesions. Three of the cats were also tested for susceptibility to reinfection.
